USDA to Fund Expansion of Tharaldson Ethanol Plant
USAgNet - 08/17/2017
The U.S. Department of Agricultural Rural Development in North Dakota reports that it has awarded a grant of $341,000 under its Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) to the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant in Casselton.
Senator John Hoeven said that the funds will be used as part of a more than $3.4 million expansion to the plant which includes constructing a new fermenter and cooling tower cell.
The project will increase production up to 7 MMGY, which is enough to fuel over 9,400 automobiles a year, USDA Rural Development reports.
"Earlier this year, Tharaldson Ethanol produced their one billionth gallon of ethanol," Hoeven said. "They continue to grow, and with Tharaldson Ethanol's new expansion, they will be able to help meet the increasing energy needs of our state and nation."
