USAgNet - 05/13/2021

Production of fuel ethanol in the United States continued to climb last week for the third straight week as ending stocks tightened to the lowest level seen since 2016, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Wednesday, May 12.

Production averaged 979,000 barrels per day for the week ending May 7, up from 952,000 barrels per day from the previous week, for an increase of nearly 3%.

Meanwhile weekly U.S. ethanol ending stocks dropped to the lowest level seen in more than four years, falling to 19.393 million barrels, down from 20.440 million barrels the preceding week.

This represents a loss of more than 5% and represents a continuation of a downward trend in ending stocks over the past two months.
