H&S Manufacturing Cited for Plant Safety Violations
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/27/2015

A Marshfield-based farm equipment manufacturer has been issued citations carry proposed penalties of $59,000 from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in Madison. Reports say H & S Manufacturing Co. exposed workers to multiple hazards, such as not providing guards to machinery and improper use of forklifts. The agency says the company also failed to train workers about hazardous chemicals.

Inspections of the plant this past spring resulted in 13 safety and health violations in all. H&S, which employs about 140 workers, has until September 9 to correct the issues.

A spokesperson for the company says many of the problems have already been addressed and said the violations were not severe enough to shut the operations down.
