National 4-H Dairy Conference Applications Available
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/28/2015

Applications are now being accepted to represent Wisconsin at the National 4-H Dairy Conference. The event takes place September 27 through October 1 in Madison, where more than 200 students from 30 states are expected to attend the conference to learn about new farm technologies, dairy processing, how to be an advocate for agriculture and careers in the dairy industry.

Delegates at National 4-H Dairy Conference are high-school students who participate in their local 4-H Dairy Programs. While on campus, the students will attend seminars through the University of Wisconsin-Madison's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences on topics such as farm finance, dairy food quality, dairy cattle nutrition and reproduction, and producing alternative dairy products from sheep and goats.

The conference also includes trips to ABS Global, Hoard's Dairyman, Nasco, and World Dairy Expo allowing young people considering careers in dairy production to learn about the latest technology and business practices being implemented around the world.

The National 4-H Dairy Conference has been held in Madison since 1970. To apply to be a part of the Wisconsin delegation, students must be in grades 10-12 as of January 1, 2015. Apply online on the Wisconsin Dairy Youth website at fyi.uwex.edu/dairyyouth or call 608-263-9409.
