Nelson-Jameson Co-Founder, Earl Nelson, Passes

Funeral services will be held Friday in Marshfield for Earl W. Nelson. He was one of the original founders of the dairy equipment and supply company Nelson-Jameson.

Nelson died last week at the age of 92. He and his father founded the company is 1947 in Toluca, Illinois, but slim revenues forced the family to relocate to Marshfield in 1951. The firm since grew to prominence as a nation-wide supplier under Earl's leadership until his official retirement in 1993. But he remained chairman of the firm until 1998.

Earl was also a founding partner of frozen pizza-maker, Avanti Foods in Walnut, IL, holding ownership and management roles from 1964-77.

He was also the last living founder of the University of Wisconsin-Wood County campus in Marshfield. Nelson received the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association Distinguished Service Award in 2010 for all of his contributions to the dairy industry.

Funeral services for Earl Nelson will be held at 11 a.m. on August 29 at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield.
