Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) commends Governor Evers for signing Senate Bill 134, a bill that updates the Farmland Preservation Program. The bill was authored by Senator Pat Testin (R-Stevens Point) and Representative Loren Oldenburg (R-Viroqua).

"This has been an ongoing effort for the past six years and, on behalf of our farmer members throughout the state, I would like to thank Governor Evers and everyone who helped get this done," said WFBF Executive Director of Governmental Relations Jason Mugnaini.

Farmland Preservation Program Updates:

• Reduced minimum commitment: From 15 to 10 years, providing more flexibility and accommodating estate planning.

Increased payments:

• $7.50 to $10/acre for land in farmland preservation zoning districts but not subject to agreements.

• $5.00 to $10/acre for land subject to agreements but not in zoning districts.

• $10 to $12.50/acre for land in zoning districts and subject to agreements.

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation is the state’s largest general farm organization. Made up of 61 county Farm Bureaus, it represents farms of all sizes, commodities and management styles.
