Conservation Field Days Slated for Lafayette County in October
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/19/2018

Farmers can learn more about cover crops and dairy grazing during a pair of field days planned for next month in Lafayette County.

On October 2, a field day will be held at 9:00 a.m. on cover crops at the Peter Cernek farm near Gratiot. Cernek has used cover crops over 10 years, with experience using different tillage methods and protecting against weather extremes. There will be a soil pit to show the benefits of cover crops to soil health and rainfall simulator demonstrations. There will be a light lunch at noon.

The second event takes place October 4 at the Leonard Farm in Blanchardville. That meeting will focus on rotational grazing, cover crops, and designing cattle paths and field roads. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

The field days are free, but attendees should register in advance by calling the Lafayette County Land Conservation Department at 608-776-3836.
