UW-RF Dairy Judging Team Places Third at Harrisburg

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls Dairy Judging Team took third place overall at the 2016 All-American Invitational Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held last week in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A total of 13 universities competed in the collegiate division where team members judged 10 classes of cattle and gave oral reasons on five of the classes.

The UW-River Falls team placed just behind the teams from the University of Kentucky and the University of Minnesota, who finished first and second, respectively. The UW-RF team took first place in the collegiate division for Holsteins.

Team members included Tim Abrahamson, Lindstrom, Minn.; Valerie Kramer, St. Cloud, Minn.; Trent Miller, Spring Valley; and Charlie Moore, Fennimore. Abrahamson was the fourth high individual overall and Miller was the fifth high individual, out of the 52 individual competitors.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin was also well represented in other divisions at the competition. The Wisconsin FFA team took first place in the FFA Division. In the 4-H Division, a team from Dodge County took second place overall.
