Wisconsin to Celebrate National 4-H Week in October
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/26/2016

Wisconsin 4-H Clubs will celebrate the youth, alumni and volunteers who learn, teach and exhibit leadership in their communities and beyond during National 4-H Week. The celebration will take place October 2-8, where county programs will host open houses and introductory events to raise awareness about 4-H and the many ways Wisconsin 4-H youth and adults give back to their communities.

"Youth in Wisconsin 4-H programs develop leadership, communication, responsibility and collaboration from a young age by participating in activities across the state," says Wisconsin 4-H Youth Program Development Director Dale Leidheiser. "Communities thrive on the contributions of 4-H youth, volunteers and alumni."

As 4-H members, youth from five-year kindergarten to one year past high school also learn teamwork, critical thinking and communication to help prepare them for life-long success, while engaging in fun, hands-on activities, from livestock care to art, drama and technology, engineering and math.

Many 4-H clubs and groups around the state will also participate in 4-H National Youth Science Day. This year's project, Drone Discovery was developed by Cornell University Cooperative Extension.
