DATCP to Resume Produce Safety Rule Training Online
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/21/2020

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture is offering virtual food safety training to help produce farmers comply with the Produce Safety Rule. Coordinators say the training will take place online since in-person meetings were suspended earlier this year due to health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus.

Farms covered by the Food Safety Modernization Act PSR are required to have at least one person attend an approved food safety class. DATCP, in cooperation with the Produce Safety Alliance, is offering two eight-hour, two-day online courses that meet FSMA and PSR requirements.

The free courses will be held November 17-18 and December 15-16 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to help produce growers understand how their farms' practices stack up against PSR regulations. Producers will also learn more about exceptions and exemptions available under the rule.

To register, interested participants must register at least two weeks before the course date at www.safeproduce.wi.gov
