Cattle Die in Highway 29 Truck Accident
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/27/2016

A livestock truck enroute to a Green Bay slaughterhouse from Minneapolis overturned on Sunday evening, resulted in a separate traffic crash and the death of several cows. The accident happened on State Highway 29 near Hatley in Marathon County.

Authorities say the truck was hauling nearly three dozen Black Angus cattle. About half of the animals were safely removed from the vehicle and taken to a nearby farm, but eight others escaped.

One of the loose cows caused another crash on the highway, resulting in minor injuries to the driver of that vehicle. But several other animals were seriously injured and had to be put down.

Meanwhile, another report confirms that some of the cows were wandering near other roads and had to be killed in order to avert more accidents.

State Highway 29 was closed for several hours on Monday morning as deputies searched for some of the missing cows.
