Three Wisconsinites Appointed to National Soybean Board
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/28/2016

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has named 39 growers to the United Soybean Board, including three from Wisconsin. Nancy Kavazanjian from Beaver Dam will begin her third term on the panel in December, along with newcomers Jennifer Poltermann of Genoa City and Dan Roe from Monticello.

Kavazanjian farms with her husband, Chuck Hammer, in Dodge County. She is an inaugural board member of the U.S. Farming and Ranching Foundation and serves on the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance board. Nancy also helps organize the annual Wisconsin Corn/Soy Expo.

Poltermann is a co-owner of Poltermann Farms, LLC and operates the PolAgri Insurance Agency. She is also involved in the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, Wisconsin Corn Growers Association, Wisconsin Soybean Association and Wisconsin Pork Association.

Roe is the manager of Pleasant Grain Elevator in Monticello and also served on the American Soybean Association's Membership & Corporate Relations Committee. He is a former president of the Wisconsin Soybean Association.

The 73-member board is authorized by the Soybean Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Act. Vilsack selected the appointees from soybean producers nominated by Qualified State Soybean Boards.

The mandatory program is funded at the rate of one-half of one percent of the net market price of the soybeans purchased.
