World Dairy Expo to Kick-Off Next Week in Madison
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/26/2007

The dairy industry's spotlight will be trained on Madison next week as World Dairy Expo kicks-off October 2-6. Organizers say it's the place for world-class competition among the country's top dairy breeders, with seven national and international breed shows, the Kingsmill Farm II International Futurity and six breed sales held on the grounds. More than 2,000 head of dairy cattle are expected to parade across the colored shavings.

Meanwhile, 1,500 exhibit booths have been registered for the trade show. Attendees can look forward to a full spectrum of dairy-focused technology, products and services up and down every aisle. And producers can take advantage of free education seminars on dairy management and other industry issues. These programs offer Expo visitors technical expertise to stay knowledgeable, competitive and profitable.

Virtual farm tour programs will once again be available to offer the chance to explore a variety of dairy operations from around the continent without leaving World Dairy Expo. The half-hour visual presentations by producers offer a virtual learning experience right on the grounds.

World Dairy Expo's Dinner with the Stars will be held on Wednesday evening. Four individuals will be recognized for their lifetime of service to the dairy industry, including Wisconsin residents Deb Reinhart, who is the Dairy Woman of the Year; and Steve Larson, the 2007 Industry Person of the Year.

Hours for World Dairy Expo are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Daily admission is $7 per person and season passes are $21. Parking is free.
