Landmark Services Now Helping Producers 'Invest an Acre'
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/30/2014

The Cottage Grove-based Landmark Services Cooperative is now partnering with Feeding America to offer Midwest grain growers the opportunity to feed their communities and a growing world. By participating in the 'Invest an Acre' program, growers have the opportunity to donate profits from their harvest to those struggling with hunger.

"Our cooperative and our members are dedicated to feeding our communities and our world; this partnership takes our commitment one step further," says Landmark Grain Division Vice President Doug Cropp. "Through Invest an Acre, our members have the opportunity to directly provide for their communities. By investing an acre, they are making a positive impact locally."

Coordinators say nearly 50 million U.S. citizens face hunger on a daily basis, many of which are members of rural communities. Cropp says our society has the technology, dedication and passion to produce the food our communities need and says Landmark is proud to partner with Invest an Acre this fall.

Through the program, grain growers can donate the proceeds of an acre, truckload or certain number of bushels to help provide for hungry families in their communities. With each dollar providing three meals and 100 percent of contributions going directly to local Feeding America food banks, the proceeds from the donation can help provide thousands of meals to neighbors in need. In addition, Monsanto is matching all donations, doubling the impact of the program.

Grain growers can participate at of the co-op's locations, including its new facility in Fall River.
