Former DATCP Deputy Secretary Joe Tregoning Dies

Funeral services will be held Saturday for Joseph Tregoning of Madison, who passed away last week at the age 78. A native of Shullsburg, Tregoning served as a State Representative for 23 years, .

During Gov. Tommy Thompson Administration, Joe served as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. In addition to these roles, he also served on various committees in his hometown and for a number of agricultural groups.

An obituary noted that Joe suffered a serious farm-related injury in November 1974, resulting in the loss of his left arm.

A memorial service will be held October 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg. Friends may call the Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg on Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. for a visitation.

Gov. Tony Evers ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staffon Friday, October 18 in Tregoning's honor.
