Xcel Proposes New Wind, Solar Energy Program
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/12/2018

Xcel Energy has unveiled new plans that would allow Wisconsin customers to choose energy generated exclusively from wind and solar resources. The utility submitted its proposal for Renewable*Connect in a filing with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. If approved, Xcel customers who subscribe to the program would be able to secure up to 100 percent of their electricity from a blend of wind and solar resources on the Upper Midwest system.

"Our customers want more options when it comes to their energy, and this new program will help them meet their sustainability goals," said Xcel EnergyWisconsin President Mark Stoering. "Renewable*Connect is another way we can provide more clean-energy options at prices that continue to be affordable and competitive."

If approved by PSC, Renewable*Connect would be offered on the heels of the Solar*Connect Community program, which is the state's largest community solar garden.

Renewable*Connect would be available on either a month-to-month basis or under a five-year contract.
