Wisconsin Man Files First Lawsuit Against Del Monte in Outbreak
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/15/2018

The first lawsuit was filed against Del Monte Fresh Produce on behalf of Aaron Ringmeier of Sheboygan who was infected with Cyclospora after consuming produce from a Del Monte Fresh Produce vegetable tray. Ringmerier is represented by Marler Clark, the nation's leading food safety law firm.

On May 26, Ringmerier purchased a Del Monte Fresh Produce vegetable tray from a Mantiowoc Kwik Trip store. The pre-packaged tray contained broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and dill dip. Two weeks later, he began experiencing symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and fatigue. He then sought medical attention at Aurora Medical Center for over a month.

The Wisconsin Department of Health linked Ringmerier's Cyclospora infection to the Del Monte Cyclospora outbreak.

On June 15, the CDC announced a Cyclospora outbreak linked to Del Monte 6oz and 12oz vegetable trays containing cauliflower, carrots, and dill dip. Over 250 people have become ill from consuming the products, with eight reported to have been hospitalized.
