State Egg Output Off Slightly From Year-Ago

Wisconsin egg production during October was 189 million eggs, down two percent from the same time a year earlier, but four percent more than last month. According to the USDA's latest Chickens and Eggs report, the average number of all layers on hand was 7.70 million, also lower than 2019. Eggs per 100 layers for October were 2,452--down six percent for the year, but up three percent for the month.

Nationally, egg production totaled 9.50 billion during October, about two percent lower than last year. The average number of layers totaled 386 million. Egg production per 100 layers was 2,459 eggs, up slightly from the year previous.

Total layers in the United States on November 1 totaled 388 million, down three percent from 2019 levels.
