Sandeen Named New Chancellor of UW-Extension
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/29/2014

The University of Wisconsin Colleges and UW-Extension will soon be getting a new chancellor. Dr. Cathy Sandeen's appointment was approved this week by the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents after being recommended by a selection committee. Dr. Sandeen currently serves as vice president for Education Attainment and Innovation at the American Council on Education in Washington, D.C.

UW System President Ray Cross says Sandeen's experience at the national level make her uniquely qualified to lead the institutions.

"As someone who's had the privilege of leading these institutions, I know firsthand the opportunities and challenges this position holds," Cross said.

Sandeen previously served as dean of Continuing Education UCLA Extension at University of California Los Angeles for six years, and as vice provost and dean of University Extension and Summer Session at University of California Santa Cruz. She has also held leadership positions at University of California San Francisco.

"It is an honor to have been selected to lead these institutions, especially at this point in time," Sandeen said. "With their clear focus on access, opportunity, service, and innovation--the embodiment of the Wisconsin Idea--I look forward to working with the faculty and staff of the Colleges and Extension as well as President Cross and the Board of Regents to support greater post-secondary attainment and economic development throughout the state of Wisconsin."

Sandeen begins her stint in Wisconsin on December 15. She will earn a $245,000 salary as chancellor.
