Wisconsin Dairies Honored for Reproduction Success

A number of Wisconsin dairy herds have made the list of honorees for achievements in dairy cattle reproduction this year. The Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council honored the winners of its 2019 awards for reproductive efficiency, fertility and well-implemented management procedures during its annual meeting in Pittsburgh this week.

Among the local farms that earned Platinum recognition were Holmesville Dairy (Tim and Travis Holmes families), Argyle; Schilling Farms (Bill, Andy and Brian Schilling families), Darlington; and Wenzel Hilltop Dairy (Kevin and Jessica Wenzel), Hilbert. The Holmes and Schillings also earned the award last year.

Maple Ridge Dairy (Ken Hein and Brian Forrest), Stratford; Seidel Mountain View (Al Seidel), Luxemburg; and Zirbel Dairy Farm (Kris Scheider), De Pere won gold placings at the conference, with silver rankings went to Drake Dairy (Jim and Brian Drake), Elkhart Lake; Glacier Edge Dairy (Corey Metcalf), Milton; Lake Breeze Dairy (Breeze Dairy Group), Malone; Maly Farms (Butch and Ron Maly, Alicia Sippl), Bryant; and McClellan Farms (Tom McClellan), Delavan.

Rielly Dairy (Mark Rielly), Darlington; and Wessel Farms (Dave, Joyce and Rod Wessel), Mineral Point were presented with bronze rankings.

The DCRC created the award program in 2010 to recognize leading dairy producers in areas of reproduction.
