Crop Report Delayed for Second Day
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/31/2012
Most federal government offices in the Washington, D.C. area were closed for a second consecutive day on Tuesday due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, which means the weekly crop reports issued by the USDA each week were delayed once again.
Both the weekly U.S. crop report and the state-by-state summaries were not released during the usual time on Monday afternoon.
Officials at the USDA say their plans are to release the latest statistics as soon as their offices resume operations--which will likely be today.
The federal government told non-emergency workers in Washington to stay home on Monday and Tuesday. Workers at the New York Stock exchange were told the same thing, making it the first time since the 1890s that the market was closed for two days because of weather issues.
