Saputo to Close Fond du Lac Cheese Plant

Saputo Cheese announced it will shut down its cheese factory in Fond du Lac and move those operations to the Almena location in western Wisconsin.
The Canadian-based dairy company says the decision was based on its efforts to improve efficiency.
Reports say the move will result in the loss of over 125 jobs. Many of the workers will receive severance pay, with some being offered the chance to transfer to other Saputo locations.
In 2009, the company closed a different plant in the Fond du Lac area, and shut down another facility in New London about three years ago.
