Wisconsin Farmers Union Planning Farm & Rural Lobby Day
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/05/2019

Registration is now open for the annual Farm and Rural Lobby Day, hosted by Wisconsin Farmers Union in Madison on January 15. Organizers say topics will include preserving and transitioning farmland, protecting drinking water for current and future generations, and ensuring fair maps through nonpartisan redistricting.

"Legislators are eager to hear directly from their constituents about the issues of the day," said WFU Government Relations Director Kara O'Connor. "Even in this world of modern communication, there's no better path for finding common ground than sitting down together and having a conversation face to face."

The day's events begin with a 10:00 a.m. issues briefings at Bethel Lutheran Church, located near the capitol square. Speakers will provide background information on pending legislation that is of interest to farmers and rural residents to help participants prepare for their meetings with legislators.

Following lunch, attendees will head to the Capitol to meet with their local legislators.

There is no cost for WFU members to attend, but there is a small fee for non-members who wish to participate. To sign-up or for more information, call 608-590-5010.
