Farm Transition, Estate Planning Workshops Slated

The University of Wisconsin-Extension offices in Grant, Lafayette, Crawford and Richland Counties are hosting a pair of farm transition and estate planning workshops next month.
The forums will be held in Belmont on December 15 and in Gays Mills on December 16 to provide information and ideas on farm succession and estate planning. Both programs run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Organizers say transferring the farm business to the next generation is seldom an abrupt process. The succeeding generation needs to establish a firm financial footing as well as learn to manage the business; and the retiring generation has to be willing to turn over
management and know they'll be secure for their later years.
UW-Extension is partnering with Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, the Wisconsin Farm Center and UW Center for Dairy Profitability to offer these programs.
