Companies Invited to Trade Venture to Canada
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/19/2014

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation will be leading a Global Trade Venture to Canada next spring to cater to companies that are new to this market and those that wish to expand their presence in that country. The trip will take place March 15-20, 2015.

Geographic proximity, cultural similarity and a common language--along with the North American Free Trade Agreement--make Canada an ideal first market for companies that are new to exporting. The program will include stops in Toronto and Montreal, which, together with their surrounding provinces, generate about two-thirds of the country's economic activity.

In each city, participants will be scheduled for their own one-on-one meetings with potential customers, agents, distributors and other market intermediaries, hand-picked by WEDC staff and trade representatives based on each company's specific needs and objectives.

The program will devote attention to U.S.-Canada shipping, logistics and border controls, as well as bilingual labeling requirements and other regulatory issues. The itinerary also includes an informational country briefing, networking dinners, and an informational session about customs and the logistics of bringing products into Canada.

Last year, Canada was the largest export market for U.S.-produced goods at over $300 billion. It was also the top destination for goods produced in Wisconsin.
