Not a Safe Year in the Woods This Hunting Season
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/30/2015

The Department of Natural Resources says Wisconsin's 2015 gun-deer season will not go in the books as one of the safer hunts. The agency has confirmed three shooting fatalities during the nine-day season, which ended Sunday evening.

Wardens say a 39-year-old man from Alaska was killed when he was shot during opening weekend while passing a loaded rifle to another hunter. A 56-year-old hunter in Waushara County was killed by a stray bullet last Monday. And over this past weekend, a 50-year-old man from Spencer died from an apparent shooting mishap.

Meanwhile, four other shooting incidents have been reported, but did not involve deaths.

DNR records show that no shooting fatalities occurred between 2012-14.
