State Egg Production Dipped Last Month

Wisconsin egg production last month totaled 121 million eggs, down one percent from last month, and seven percent lower than the same time last year. According to the latest Chickens and Eggs release from the USDA, the average number of all layers on hand in the Badger State during November was 5.11 million, up one percent from October, but down six percent from November of last year. Eggs per 100 layers for the month were 2,370, down two percent from last month, and down one percent from last
year.
Nationally, egg production totaled 7.66 billion during November, down nine percent from 2014. Production per 100 layers was 2,259 eggs, down two percent from the previous year.
All layers in the U.S. as December 1 totaled 341 million, down seven percent from last year. The agency says domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 217 thousand during November 2015, up
45 percent from November 2014.
