Wisconsin Aquaculture Conference Planned for March
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/16/2016

Fresh Ideas For a Sustainable Aquaculture Industry is the theme of the 2016 North Central Aquaculture Conference hosted by the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association and North Central Regional Aquaculture Center. Registration is now open for the event, which will be held March 12-13 at Crowne Plaza Milwaukee Airport in Milwaukee.

The North Central Regional Aquaculture Center and the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association will offer over 35 educational sessions on all aspects of aquaculture. Fish farmers will be able to hear aquaculture experts from more than eight universities including University of Wisconsin, Purdue University and Iowa State University, as well as other industry leaders and professionals from the 12 state region.

"As consumer interest in locally sourced fish continues to rise, regional fish farmers will need to innovate to grow and meet demand," says Peter Fritsch, president of the Wisconsin Aquaculture Association and owner of Rushing Waters Fisheries in Palmyra. "This conference will allow fish farmers and others interested in aquaculture to learn about the latest on-farm innovations and advancements to produce quality locally grown fish in a sustainable environment."

The two day forum offers networking opportunities and educational sessions for those interested in Midwest aquaculture. It also features one of the largest aquaculture Trade Shows in the Midwest, a Retail Product Showcase of value-added creations of local producers, and the Taste of the Midwest Aquaculture Cooking Demonstration by Dani Klontz.

Registration fees for the event are $115 per person prior to February 29 and after $165 per person. To register online, visit the website at www.WisconsinAquaculture.com or call 814-515-2570.
