Ag in the Classroom Holding National Ag Day Activities
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 02/21/2019

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom program is encouraging the state's agricultural community to celebrate National Ag Day, which is March 14.

Among the activities the group will be holding this year include a coloring contest, reading event and social media challenge.

In the coloring contest, students under the age of 12 will draw a picture that thanks Wisconsin farmers for producing food for life. Those drawings can be scanned or emailed by March 31 for the chance to win a package of goodies.

The Ag Day Reading Event encourages farmers, volunteers, teachers and others to read books about agriculture, such as the Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom's Book of the Year, Fresh-Picked Poetry by Michelle Schaub.

And the #WIAgProud Campaign is for farmers and agriculturists to share what they do and why they do it on social media. Participants will be entered into a drawing to receive a Culver's gift card.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin residents can also nominate a producer who embodies this year's National Ag Day theme of 'Agriculture: Food for Life.' The nomination form can be found at bit.ly/NominateAFarmer19 and involves sharing a short essay about the farmer. Finalists will be featured on social media with the winner being selected by popular vote on Facebook.
