Marathon PPA Unveils New Mobile Dairy Display
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/09/2018
There will be a new visitor making her rounds at many of the dairy breakfasts and other public events in north central Wisconsin this summer. The Marathon County Partnership for Progressive Agriculture unveiled a new mobile dairy exhibit at its annual
Farm/City Banquet in Wausau on Thursday. It includes a five-foot fiberglass cow, which will be used to teach the non-farm audience about the dairy industry.
"With less and less people living on farms, we wanted to find a way to bring the dairy industry to the people," said Beth Schaefer, a regional program manager with the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board's Dairy Council. "We are calling this exhibit 'On the Moove'
and hope it gives the public, especially young people, an understanding of where their milk comes from."
The Marathon PPA is also holding a naming contest to give the bovine her own identity. The winner will be chosen during the Marathon County Dairy Breakfast in June.
Funding for the display was provided by the Community Foundation and Greenheck Foundation.
