Wisconsin Ag Connection - 03/22/2018

Five students will be earning scholarship money for college during the Wisconsin Cheese Industry Conference in Madison next month. The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association announced the winners of its 2018 scholarship program, in which each of the successful applicants will be getting $3,000 awards.

This year's scholarship recipients include Jamie Feldmann, a production supervisor at Sartori Company in Plymouth; Alesha Radke, a packaging supervisor at Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery in Ellsworth; Mary McClure, a part-time Customer Support Engineer in Malvern, Pennsylvania; Audrey Medrano, an accounting analyst at Yamato Corporation in Mequon; andAndrew Bargender, a purchasing intern at A&B Process Systems in Stratford.

"WCMA members recognize education as a key component to the continuing strength and growth of the dairy industry," said WCMA Director John Umhoefer. "Through our Association, member companies have generously supported institutions of higher learning and students with total gifts worth more than $1 million."

The WCMA student scholarship program is supported by the Championship Cheese Auction. That's where the gold medal cheeses from WCMA's Championship Cheese Contests are sold to provide income for a permanent, reserved scholarship fund.

This year's sale takes place April 18.
