WMMB Director Elections Begin Next Week

Dairy producers in certain parts of the state can begin voting for their choice next week in the 2008 Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board director elections. This year, 17 producers are running for nine board member positions in a mail-in ballot election. All eligible voters must send in their ballots between April 14-28.

** District 1 - Incumbent Ben Peterson of Grantsburg is running unopposed.

** District 4 - Incumbent Lyle Jensen from Amery is running unopposed.

** District 7 - Incumbent Bill Herr of Greenwood is being challenged by Jeff Meyer from Unity.

** District 10 - Incumbent Roger Buresh of Luxemburg is running unopposed.

** District 13 - Lanette Harsdorf of Beldenville is being challenged by Dianne Erickson from Mondovi.

** District 16 - Incumbent Romona Averbeck of Fond du Lac is unopposed.

** District 19 - Incumbent Richard Fink from Mayville has two challengers as Sarah E. Lloyd of Wisconsin Dells and Russell Warmka from Fox Lake have also been nominated for the seat.

** District 22 - Incumbent Mary Wackershauser of Lancaster also has two challengers. Other nominees include Laurayne Fischer from Boscobel and Ann Kieler of Platteville.

** District 25 - Three new-comers have joined the race. Nominees include Stacy Eberle of Monroe, David L. Kyle from Elkhorn, and Doug Rebout of Janesville.

WMMB consists of 25 board members who supervise WMMB policies and procedures, and approve WMMB's long-range business plan and annual budget. As directors, the winning nominees will supervise WMMB's business affairs, formulate and set WMMB policies, and serve on one of three WMMB committees: cheese business, local markets business, and producer and board relations.
