FFA Foundation Support on Track for Another Record Year
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/24/2015

The fundraising arm of the state's FFA program may likely surpass its annual fundraising goal for the third consecutive year. Wisconsin FFA Foundation Director Sara Schoenborn says the group has already raised over 85-percent of its goal of $510,000 for fiscal year 2014-15, which ends in July. Last year, the organization exceeded its projected amount of $475,000--which at the time was an all-time record for a single year.

"We have a lot to be excited about," Schoenborn told Wisconsin Ag Connection. "Membership in the FFA is now at a 30-year high and the passion for agricultural education is very strong. However, the addition of more students means that more funds are needed to sustain current programs, as well as pay for new ones in the future."

One of the challenges facing agricultural education these days is a shortage of ag teachers. Schoenborn explains that many donors recognize that the Foundation helps fill that void by supplementing programs that local districts may not be able to cover.

"We are finding that many of our loyal supporters are giving more, but we also have new donors coming on board, such as Culvers, which has become a new Two Star Mission Partner," she notes.

The Wisconsin FFA and FFA Foundation will celebrate all of its achievements during this year's state FFA convention, slated for June 15-18 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Wisconsin Ag Connection will again provide up-to-the-minute updates throughout the event, thanks to a special sponsorship by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, Foremost Farms USA and Landmark Services Cooperative.
