Dairy 30x20 Grants Being Offered to Processors
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/24/2015

The grant program that aims to help Wisconsin dairy farmers boost their production by billions of pounds annually is again being offered to dairy processors. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture says Dairy 30x20 grant funds are being offered to processors again this year that plan to foster innovation, improve profitability and facilitate operational changes.

"The demand for quality Wisconsin dairy products continues to grow around the world," said Dan Smith, division administrator for DATCP's division of agricultural development. "To meet the demand, dairy processors need to be innovative, efficient and adaptable. They need to be able to meet a number of regulatory requirements. These grants are designed to help them do so."

The Grow Wisconsin Dairy 30x20 Processor Grant is customizable for each applicant. Eligible companies must operate a licensed dairy processing plant engaged in pasteurizing, processing or manufacturing milk or dairy products that is, or will be, located in Wisconsin.

Just like the farm grants, the applicant must provide at least 20 percent of the total grant award as a matching contribution. Funds may be used for operating expenses, employee training, equipment rental or equipment purchase, as long as the full value is ordinarily depreciable within one year.

The application deadline for dairy processors is June 1. Recipients will be chosen through a competitive selection process.
