Two Farm Workers Fined in Hidden Video Abuse Case
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/24/2014

Two of the four Brown County dairy farm workers that were shown mistreating cows in an undercover video last December entered no contest pleas to a number of related charges. According to court documents, Abelardo Jaimes of Menasha and Lucia Martinez from Wrightstown were charged with animal abuse.

Jaimes was found guilty Tuesday in Brown County Circuit Court on the charges and was ordered to pay over $700 in fines and court costs. Martinez was also found guilty and must pay nearly $1,300.

Jaimes is still employed at the farm, but Martinez was fired when Weise Brothers Farm became aware of the video.

The other pair of employees, Misael Monge-Minero, Green Bay; and Crescencio Pineda, Menasha, are also scheduled to appear in court next month.

The incident got world-wide attention when an animal rights group posted secret video footage online of the employees at the farm whipping cows and jabbing them with needles. The negative publicity also led to the farm being dropped as a dairy supplier for DiGiorno Pizza.
