Walker Planning to Unveil His Own Solutions for CWD
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 04/26/2016

In response to recent criticism on how his administration is handling the battle against Chronic Wasting Disease in Wisconsin's deer herd, Gov. Scott Walker says he is working on some new ideas to help combat the deadly brain disorder. During a meeting with reporters on Monday, Walker said his staff is in the process of developing new tactics to help reduce the spread of CWD.

Earlier this month, Reps. Nick Milroy of South Range and Chris Danou from Trempealeau presented a list of recommendations for the state to act on to help get the disease under control. The two Democrats, who are both members of the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, slammed the Walker Administration's efforts after tests confirmed that 9.4 percent of 3,100 deer tested last year were infected.

The governor says he plans to release more information about his new ideas within the next month.
