Dobson Earns UW-River Falls Lifetime Achievement Award

A former economic advisor to President Ronald Reagan was honored by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Alumni Association with its Lifetime Achievement Award. William Dobson, who graduated from the school with a bachelor's of science degree in 1959 before receiving his master's of science degree from Iowa State University in 1961, is an emeritus professor of agricultural and applied economics at the UW-Madison.

Now living in Waunakee, Dobson has served as an agribusiness economist with the Babcock Institute for International Dairy Research, been professor and chair of agribusiness at Massey University in New Zealand and served as a senior staff economist with President Reagan's Council of Economic Advisors.

Dobson has received numerous professional awards recognizing teaching excellence and has authored or co-authored 200 professional publications and articles.

Also honored last week was Dr. Jason Staszko, a former U.S. Marine combat physician, who received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.
