WMMB Election Results Announced

The winning candidates in the recent Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board election have been announced. On Thursday, the state's agriculture department announced that seven incumbents and two new-comers will be serving on the panel for the next three years.

DATCP says about 19 percent of eligible dairy producers returned their voting ballots during the election process. The results are as follows:

** District 1 - Ben Peterson of Grantsburg (unopposed incumbent)

** District 4 - Lyle Jensen from Amery (unopposed incumbent)

** District 7 - Incumbent Bill Herr of Greenwood defeated challenger Jeff Meyer from Unity.

** District 10 - Roger Buresh of Luxemburg (unopposed incumbent)

** District 13 - Incumbent Lanette Harsdorf of Beldenville won over Dianne Erickson.

** District 16 - Romona Averbeck of Fond du Lac (unopposed incumbent)

** District 19 - Sarah Lloyd from Wisconsin Dells defeated Incumbent Richard Fink from Mayville, and challenger Russell Warmka.

** District 22 - Incumbent Mary Wackershauser of Lancaster hold on two her seat after defeating Laurayne Fischer and Ann Kieler.

** District 25 - Stacy Eberle of Monroe beatout challengers David L. Kyle and Doug Rebout.

Each year one-third of the board's 25 seats are selected. As directors, the board members supervise WMMB's business affairs, formulate and set WMMB policies, and serve on one of three WMMB committees: cheese business, local markets business, and producer and board relations.
