ConAgra Foods to Scale Back Cookie Production in Ripon

A slowdown in consumer demand and a need to trim operating costs is taking a bite out of the longtime cookie industry in Ripon. ConAgra announced on Monday that is will close its west production plant later this year, resulting in the loss of about 300 local jobs.
The plant is a former Ripon Foods facility that made Ripon Good Cookies for many years. ConAgra purchased the property in 2013.
Employees have the option of applying for other open positions within ConAgra, the company announced this week.
Workers United Local 91 says it will try to persuade the company to keep the plant running.
