A student at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has been selected as the Wisconsin Holstein Association's 2012 summer intern. Labecca Johnson, a native of LaCresent, Minnesota, will serve in a public relations role for the WHA by attending numerous events around the state and assisting in the creation of marketing materials.

Johnson will be responsible for interviewing and writing a feature called 'Breeder Profiles' in the Wisconsin Holstein News and represent the office at district and state Holstein shows during the summer. She will also help in the planning and coordination of the 2012 Holstein Futurity.

Labecca grew up on her family's dairy, where she assisted with milking, feeding, calf care and numerous other chores on the farm. She is currently an Independent Consultant for Magical Moments Productions, where she designs brochures, ads, logos, videos and numerous presentations. Last year, she was hired as the marketing communications intern for Accelerated Genetics, and served as the Minnesota FFA State Reporter the previous year.

Currently a senior at UW-RF, Johnson is majoring in Marketing Communications-Agricultural Emphasis with a minor in Speech Communications. On campus she is an active member of the UWRF Dairy Club, serves as the Yearbook Editor and assisted with the bi-annual heifer sale.
