Four-State Dairy Conference to Focus on Profitability

More details have been released about the upcoming Four-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference, which is slated for June 12-13 at the Grand River Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Organizers say the forum will feature information on dealing with today's economic environment and the newest research to improve profit.

Jennifer Bentley, dairy specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, will talk about management strategies during challenging times. Larry Tranel, dairy specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach, will present a workshop on helping farmers manage stress. And Mike Brouk, professor and extension specialist at Kansas State, will help participants learn keys to maximize whole farm feed efficiency.

Other speakers include Gary Sipiorski of Vita Plus, who will discuss how to survive in today's economic situation. Mike Hutjens, professor of animal science at the University of Illinois, will talk about feeding strategies with low milk prices, and Albert De Vries, professor of animal science at the University of Florida, will cover the economics of raising the right heifers.

The conference is a collaborative effort of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, University of Illinois Extension, University of Minnesota Extension and the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
