State's Corn, Soybean Stocks in Better Shape This Year

Wisconsin corn stocks in all positions on June 1 totaled 171 million bushels, according to the latest USDA Grain Stocks report. This is 18 percent above a year ago. Of the total stocks, 56 percent were stored in on-farm storage facilities. The indicated quarterly disappearance from March to May totaled 95.3 million bushels, 24 percent more than the 76.9 million bushels used during the same quarter last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions in Wisconsin totaled 17 million bushels, more than twice the 7.77 million bushels on hand in June 2014. Of the total stocks, 29 percent were stored on-farm. Indicated disappearance for the March - May quarter was 12.6 million bushels, three percent more than the 12.2 million bushels used during the same quarter last year.

Oat stocks were at 7.88 million bushels, over three times the 2.34 million bushels on hand last year. About 21 percent were stored on-farm.
