State Winter Wheat Production Forecast Lowered

Winter wheat production in Wisconsin is forecast at 14.6 million bushels, a decrease of 26 percent compared to last year's bin buster crop. According to the USDA Crop Production report, the crop's yield is forecast at 77 bushels per acre, down by two bushels
from the 2016 season.
Wisconsin winter wheat growers intend to harvest 190,000 acres for grain, down 24 percent from a year earlier.
This year's oat crop is forecast to come in at 5.80 million bushels, down 12 percent from 2016. The expected yield is 61 bushels per acre, about five bushels below the previous year. The area expected to be harvested for grain totals 95,000 acres, down five
percent from 2016.
