Strong Showing for Kewaunee County Farm Tech Days
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/14/2017

Despite an early morning shower in the middle of the week, visitors to Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Kewaunee County couldn't have had better weather on Thursday for the conclusion of the three day event near Algoma. Local committee members and exhibitors told Wisconsin Ag Connection that attendance was strong all week long. And thousands of showgoers enjoyed touring the Ebert Enterprises' rotary dairy parlor, watching technology displays in the 'Innovation Square' area of Tent City and taking part in field demonstrations near the grounds.

Extension Agent Aerica Bjurstrom says the county did a good job showcasing its vibrant agricultural community, which employs about a quarter of the county's workforce by providing over 2,600 jobs. Its dairy industry is made up of a mixture of larger free-stall set-ups as well as traditional smaller farms; and is among Wisconsin's top 10 dairy counties for overall production.

Meanwhile, the task of hosting the event will be passed on to D&B Sternweis Farms and Weber's Farm Store/Heiman Holsteins near Marshfield. Their show will be held July 10-12, 2018 in Wood County. Jefferson County will be the host of the show in July 2019 at Walter Grain Farms in Grellton. And Eau Claire County is in the process of finding a host family for the 2020 show.

The expo is run by Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, Inc.--a group comprised of representatives of state and federal agencies involved in agriculture and natural resources, the University of Wisconsin, and the agribusiness-industry and farming sectors.
