Weekend Storms Cause Substantial Damage in Rural Wisconsin
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/22/2019
Severe weather across the northern half of Wisconsin on Friday evening and Saturday resulted in downed trees, damaged buildings and left thousands of people without power over the weekend.
Reports say several barns were flattened because of straight-line winds in eastern Wisconsin. Many other homes and businesses saw more minor damage.
A spokesperson for We Energies said about 140,000 Wisconsin customers lost power on Saturday, including 70,000 in the Green Bay area. Many smaller utilitiy companies across the state had isolated cases of power outages, many of which were caused by
trees falling on powerlines.
The National Weather Service says Friday's storm produced at least one tornado in Marathon County. Another twister was confirmed near New London on Saturday, with funnel clouds spotted in Prentice, Weyauwega, Dale and Greenville.
