Final Figures in From 2013 Apple Harvest

Wisconsin's apple production increased 18 million pounds from 23.6 million in 2012 to 41.7 million in 2013, according to the USDA's National Ag Statistics Service.

The state's apple growers harvested 3,100 acres last year, down 100 acres from the previous season. Average yield per acre, at 13,500 pounds, was up from 7,380 pounds in 2012.

Prices fell nearly 12 cents from to 50.9 cents--similar to recent historical levels.

Fresh Market apples at 33.8 million pounds, accounted for 89 percent of the state's utilized crop.
