Vernon Co. Names First-Ever Dairy Youth Scholarship Winners

Chelsea Daines and Brady Nigh are the recipients of the first ever Vernon County Dairy Youth Fund Scholarships to support their continuing agricultural education.

Daines will be a junior this fall at Iowa State University where she is majoring in Dairy Science with a minor in microbiology. At school she is a Sigma Alpha Professional Women in Agriculture committee member, and is a student milker and fresh pen manager at the Iowa State dairy farm.

Nigh just graduated from Viroqua High School and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls this fall to major in Animal Science. His dairy youth involvement included dairy quiz bowl, dairy judging, and showing cattle at the county fair and State Fair as a part of 4-H, FFA and the Vernon County Junior Holstein Association.

The Vernon County Dairy Youth fund was formed with the purpose of providing financial support to enhance the dairy youth development and activities of all dairy youth involved in Vernon County 4-H, FFA, and dairy breed organizations.
