West Salem Man Hospitalized in Farm Mishap
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 07/27/2012
A 69 year-old West Salem man is facing life-threatening injuries after his combine rolled over several times on an embankment.
According to the La Crosse County Sheriff's Department, Richard Schomberg was combining oats on a steep hill Wednesday evening when the machine lost its traction and began to tip.
Authorities say the weight of the oats in the combine's hopper caused the combine to overturn.
Schomberg was trapped underneath the implement, but was able to call for help with his cell phone.
The accident happened in the town of Hamilton. He remains in critical condition at a La Crosse hospital.
