'Mocha' Tops Wisconsin Holstein Futurity Show
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/15/2017

Twelve three-year-old Holstein cows paraded around the coliseum at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis last weekend to compete for the title of first place in the 31st Annual Wisconsin Holstein Futurity.

Topping the class was 'Ryan-Vu Chelios Mocha,' owned by Ryan-Vu Holsteins of Fond du Lac. They received a $1,500 check for their efforts. Mocha was also named the Best Udder of the show, first place bred and owned animal, top milk production winner and the top fat and protein production winner.

'Ryan-Vu GChip Claudette,' exhibited by Joseph Opsal from Blue Mounds, was the second place entry. He earned a check for $750 and received the first place junior award.

And third place honors went to 'Miss Oeh-My Atwood Veida-ET,' owned by Jenna Langer & Joel Kietzman. They received $500 in winnings.

The Wisconsin Holstein Futurity is a non-traditional cattle show, where the exhibitors enter their animals three years prior to the show in hopes of raising a high-quality show cow. It is a prestigious show where only the best in Registered Holsteins compete.

Jerome Meyer of Sun Prairie served as the official judge.
