WPA Board Member Budd Post Passes
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/22/2016

The Wisconsin Pork Association has announced the passing of one of its board members. Budd Post of Cedarburg died on July 31 at the age of 73.

Post entered the swine industry in the 1980s with 25 sows and a strong focus on profound genetics. After many successful years of farrowing record litters, he switched to raising feeder pigs, which he continued to do until the time of his passing, under his grandparents' farm name Benbelle Farms. He was elected to the WPA board in 2015 and has been very involved with the association for many years. He was particularly active with the Pork Schoppe committee and would often be seen at the Pork Schoppe stand nearly every day of the Wisconsin State Fair.

At the time of his passing, Post served on the Tri-County Pork Producers board and was active with the Ozaukee County Fair. He was also a safety official for the Midwest Truck and Tractor Pullers and heavily involved with both the National Tractor Pullers Association and Wisconsin Tractor Pullers Association.

"Budd was a selfless helper, always putting the needs of others before his own. He will be remembered as a great mentor to many generations and a man that was always on the go, working endlessly to ensure no task was left undone," said WPA Executive Vice President Tammy Vaassen. "His outgoing personality, willingness to give 200 percent, and humor will be greatly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bud's family and the many close friends he considered family."

A memorial celebration in honor of Budd Post is being planned for later in October.
